Mark Anderson

A self-taught reporter from the world of conventional journalism, Mark Anderson, 47, a native of southwest Michigan, started reporting in 1984 for the weekly Berrien County Record, the county's oldest newspaper. He covered local government and wrote some state and national news and commentary while also covering sports and community events, including photography. He went on to become a correspondent and special sections editor for the daily South Bend (Indiana) Tribune until 1996. In the 1990s his research proved that there's more than meets the eye in America's power structure. In response, he unsuccessfully ran for state representative in Michigan in 1996, after which he worked for the Record again, and then the weekly Harbor Country News in Michigan and its daily sibling, the Michigan City (Indiana) News-Dispatch. In those years he wrote more investigative pieces and hard-hitting commentary about local, state and national affairs. From 2002 to 2005 he co-published a quarterly, the Herald Republic, with a partner, circulating it in eight counties. During that time, American Free Press began to publish his articles. After a spell of ill health, he joined AFP officially as a national correspondent in early 2007. He travels for AFP for on-the-scene reports and promotional assignments. For AFP he writes Across the Nation, an ongoing series of reports on various key topics and how Americans are trying to defend, and regain control of, their nation. His commentaries, The Big Picture and Probing the Media, also run in AFP.

Mark, who has a teen-age son from a previous marriage, remarried in April 2007. He and his wife, Angie, a part-time school teacher, reside in south Texas while also spending time in Michigan. He also is a longtime musician, having played drums since the age of 8, along with singing and songwriting.
